WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent silk extensions that are applied individually to each natural eyelash. They can lengthen, thicken and enhance your own natural eyelashes. Different curls, lengths, thicknesses and types of eyelash extensions can be used to suit the look you require, giving you an enhanced natural look or something a little more dramatic.
HOW ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS
A single extension is applied to each single natural lash using a bonding adhesive. This is done by using specially designed tweezers that enable your own lash to be isolated so that an extension can be carefully attached. The extension is placed approximately 1mm away from the root of your own eyelash, ensuring the adhesive does not touch your eyelid or skin.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
When it comes to eyelash extensions the most important thing is that they should never be rushed! Please allow 1 hour 30 minutes for Faux Mink full sets and 1 hour 15 minutes for Silk full sets. This will include your initial consultation. Infills range from 30 -75 minutes depending on the amount of work needed.
WHAT IF I DECIDE NOT TO HAVE
The eyelash extensions will eventually fall out with your own lashes as they naturally shed, continuing the eyelash cycle.
WHY DO I NEED TO BE PATCH TESTED?
Your patch test will determine whether you are suitable for eyelash extensions by establishing whether or not you would have any reaction to the adhesive used.
It takes a matter of minutes and can be arranged at your convenience.
This is of paramount importance and is nonnegotiable.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE A REACTION TO THE PATCH?
A reaction will present itself as causing redness and irritation to the area tested. If this does occur then unfortunately you will be unsuited to eyelash extensions, however, this is extremely rare.
DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS DAMAGE YOUR OWN LASHES?
HOW LONG DO EYELASH
Eyelash extensions can last as long as 6 weeks. Each eyelash extension generally lasts until the natural lash falls out in its natural cycle. Infills are advisable every 2-3 weeks depending how well you take care of them. This maintains your eyelash extensions, ensuring they always look nice and full.
There have been numerous reports in the press that eyelash extensions damage your natural lashes. These reports relate to inexperienced and/or unqualified technicians, unfortunately of which there are many about. The truth is that eyelash extensions DO NOT damage your own lashes when applied correctly. The eyelash extensions come off when your natural lash falls out. So as long as an appropriate weight extension has been applied and the extensions have been attached to your natural lashes individually, your natural lashes will grow through as normal, therefore causing no damage.
HOW DO I CHOOSE THE LOOK THAT I
We will advise you on the different lengths, curls and thicknesses that would enhance your own lashes and eye shape to suit you. This will all be discussed during your initial consultation.
WHAT IF I HAVE NATURALLY WEAK
If you are worried that your own natural eyelashes are very fine or sparse, then don’t. Eyelash extensions are going to enhance whatever you have already. This just means that a very full or voluminous look would not be suited to you.
We also stock a growth tonic and vitamins which encourage existing lashes to strengthen and new lashes to grow. These can be used with or without eyelash extensions and are highly recommended.
CAN I WEAR EYE MAKEUP WITH
Yes. Eye makeup is absolutely fine to wear as long as it is oil free. However we strongly advise that you do not wear mascara whilst you have eyelash extensions as it will shorten the life of them. It can cause them to clump together and may contain oils that weaken the bond between the adhesive and your lashes. Infills will also not be as effective if the extensions have been coated in mascara. One of the advantages of eyelash extensions is that there is actually no need to use mascara.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE
WHAT ARE INFILLS?
ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS
AND FAUX MINK LASHES?
Silk lashes give a slightly more separated, mascaraed look. For these we use a mixture of fine silk and flat lashes, both of which are lightweight and soft. Our flat lashes appear wider than they actually are, giving denser colour and definition with very little added weight.
Faux mink lashes are super soft & fine and are extremely natural to wear and touch. They imitate real fur but are completely cruelty free. Because these lashes are so lightweight (we use 005/006 thickness) they can be built up a little to achieve a slightly fuller, feathery look, giving you natural volume. Both come in a range of curls, thicknesses and lengths that can be adjusted to suit your needs.
Your own eyelashes have a growth cycle and fall out naturally. These are then replaced with new natural lashes. Each time you are due for an infill you will have lost some of the extensions that were attached to your own lashes because they have been shed. New extensions are then applied to the new lashes that have grown through in replacement of the lashes lost.
Not at all. As long as they are applied properly! Eyelash extensions do not have any contact with the skin and are applied directly to your individual lashes. The first time you have eyelash extensions it may feel a little unusual but most of our clients find it extremely relaxing and often drift off to sleep.
SHOULD I HAVE MY EYELASHES
TINTED BEFORE I HAVE EXTENSIONS APPLIED?
As the eyelash extension is normally black (we do offer brown/coloured lashes too) it dominates your natural eyelash colour. However some clients prefer to have their own lashes tinted beforehand if they have very fair lashes to make the roots look more defined. It is advisable if you are having a ¾, ½ or corner set to tint beforehand if your lashes are fair to blend the extensions into the natural lashes seamlessly. This enhances the look further, giving you more definition and can be carried out before your eyelash extension treatment.
